Momma Never Told Me

 Moonpie Eyes

Did anyone else set their alarm clock so they could see the total eclipse of the moon?

Well, my husband and I did --- but there was nothing to see in our early morning sky. I guess we were too late or else the haze of dawn blocked it from view! There were no stars which usually means clouds. It was a disappointment because the next eclipse is not until next February. It's too cold in February to go searching for a shady moon! This morning we enjoyed a wonderful 69 degrees while driving around our little sleepy town.

Two good things about spending the rest of my day yawning is we stopped at the Sunshine Cafe for breakfast and I got to see the sun come up! Since I'm not a morning person, I rarely get to see a pink sunrise through baggy eyes.

After missing the lunar eclipse, I'll have to take a couple suggestions from my newspaper --- celebrate by eating a Moonpie while listening to "The Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd.

 Unbagged

If you read my recent post "Bagged" you'll be surprised to find out that my ode to a dead tree was premature!

"I'm not dead yet."*

Suddenly, the worm-infested tree has recovered and is leafing out like springtime!  The green leaves might make a total comeback before autumn is in the air.

It just proves that there is always HOPE no matter how bleak the future appears.

*From the movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"

 Stardust

Billed as a great "date" movie and an adult fairy tale, yesterday hubby and I went to see Stardust.  We laughed a lot and really enjoyed the evening!  If you get a chance to go to the movies I recommend this star struck love story......

 Weekend's Wacky Veggie Tales

Hot August is the right time to get out and display those wacky vegetables! I thought I'd share a few from our area newspaper:

Hunter's Squash Duck

Pinocchio's Nosy Eggplant

Superman's Curly Cuke

Catcher's Handy Pepper

School's Cheering Carrot

Twin Tomato Heads

Cheeky Heart-Butt

Tater Quote:

"It's been so hot lately, that I just take my potatoes out of the ground and put butter on them!" from The Buzz.

Stay cool and eat your vegetables, Streamers! ~~~ Hugs, Rita B

 He's A She Now

A few years ago a young long-haired man who used work at the book store in the mall, left the job. He was soft spoken and shy, but always very helpful and pleasant. I wondered what happened to him. If I ever knew his name, I've forgotten it by now.

Yesterday I got stuck in store during a storm. The power had gone out and it shut down the machines at the check-outs, so I began putting everything back. Earlier I had been talking to a woman working in the men's department. When I came back, she laughed and said "Oh, no one ever puts anything back!" She looked up and we looked into each others eyes. I remembered her (him) from the book store!

Oh, my gosh, I thought, but I hope I hide my surprise at our chance meeting. It was the young man from the book store --- but now he was very much a woman! She was the same helpful person she always was, except, perhaps a lot more talkative.
