The New Seven Wonders of the World are all amazing places. I didn't go online to vote on the finalists --- shame on me! --- all are spectacular and deserve a visit by everyone living on our beautiful earth.
I'm sure they're listed in the 1,000 Places to See Before You Die book. Since my husband and I enjoy traveling, we may yet make it to a few more before leaving this world. However, the Great Pyramids of Giza, surviving from the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is still on our list to see one day and none of us are getting any younger.
The New Seven Wonders:
1. The Great Wall of China.
2. Rome's Colosseum - My husband has been to this remarkable structure during his travels in the Navy.
3. India's Taj Mahal.
4. Jordan's Petra.
5. Brazil's Statue of Christ the Redeemer - My husband has seen this huge statue during a church work mission.
6. Peru's Machu Picchu.
7. Mexico's Chichen Itza - My husband and I visited these Mayan ruins in 2002. He climbed the steep steps on the outside of El Castillo de Kukulcan, the largest temple, on a very hot afternoon. Later we both climbed the slippery steps in the inner temple of El Castillo to see the jaguar throne. I thought I'd die right there and it makes me remember part of the quote about measuring life: "....... by the places and moments that take our breath away."
The incredible El Castillo on a hot day at Chichen Itza!
My Rusty D made it up and down the steep steps of El Castillo!

These are only a few of the magnificent sights we saw on our trip to Chichen Itza! It deserves to be on the list and I hope one day you'll get to visit it too. ~~~ Hugs, Rita B
