Momma Never Told Me

 Spring Fever and Illusions of Grandeur

I hope everyone had a spectacular first day of spring! We did here --- it's been beautiful lately --- and flowers and buds are popping out all over. There's not doubt about it: Spring is here!!!

Because of that revelation, I took my snowman wreath off the front door yesterday and the collection of snow people in my kitchen are now doomed for the storage crates this week. My wish for snow has gone unanswered and it's too late now for dreaming.

Except, spring always makes me think of new beginnings, so today I went to the Open Casting Call for the upcoming movie to be filmed in our area. Who knows? Stranger things have happened. Maybe the hubby and I will get the callback to be in "Leatherheads" with George Clooney. I'm sure when George sees my photograph, he'll say "Bring that woman to me now!" Novice starlets must make sacrifices.

This post is dedicated to the River Rat because her photographs are always the best and also, she's not afraid to try something new!

 Can't Duct Tape My Mouth

I can't believe that Toyola Sienna is still airing that awful commercial about the two little boys sitting in their father's car. Their wonderful father says he's spent weekends building them a tree house --- but they won't leave the luxury of the family car and their games --- to go see his creation made just for them!

Dear dad comes off as a doofus --- like "What was I thinking? Of course, they don't need my gift of a tree house when they have my car to sit in!" And the kids come off as rude and spoiled brats!

What child wouldn't love to have a father like that??? That commercial still makes me furious and I gotta say something. ~~~ Have You Hugged Your Daddy Today? ~~~ Hugs, Rita B

 Monday's Silly Questions from My E-Mail

~~~ You need to learn about E-Bay? Would it improve my love life?
~~~ Is your body ready for the summer? Is this a trick question?

~~~ Are you smarter than a fifth grader? Probably not any more!
~~~Who signed your guest book, Rita? You mean I have company???

~~~Want to hit the road? That's better than the other way around.
~~~Feeling tired and washed out? Yep! I've forgotten the last time I felt frisky.

~~~Want to meet some hot singles in your area? Did my husband hire you?
~~~How old do you feel now?  I'm only as old as I feel, right?

~~~Do you need a new computer? Yes, cause I'm getting too many silly e-mails!!!
This post is dedicated to LUCY, who knows how to ask the important questions and usually has the right answers!  ~~~ Hugs, Rita
 Sunday's Prayer for Peace
Blessed are the Peacemakers,
for they shall be known as
the Children of God.
But I say to you that hear, love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you,
bless those who curse you
pray for those who abuse you
To those that strike you on the cheek,
offer the other one also,
and from those who take away your cloak,
do not withhold your coat as well.
Give to everyone who begs from you,
and of those who take away your goods,
do not ask for them again.
And as you wish that others would do to you,
do so also to them.
Amen
"If you want to make peace, you don't talk to your friends.
You talk to your enemies."
Moshe Dayan (1915-1981)
This prayer is dedicated to June, of Pray with Hope, who makes friends wherever she goes!
 Backing Up Is Hard To Do
Starting my week off right, this past Monday I had my annual visit with my GYN. It's freaky enough that she's a friend, but since the appointments were running about an hour late, I regreted my decision not to eat lunch before. While on the table making small talk my stomach added gurgles and quirks to the conversation.
Finally walking out the door into the afternoon sun, I jump into my car and started the engine. Next comes all the little adjustments and prep work that must take place before lift off --- proper mirror angles (I've gotten shorter since morning), a few sips of water, reapply fragrant lip gloss, and the check behind me for the one millionth time.
A car comes into the parking lot and I wait for it to pass before putting my car in reverse. I barely roll a complete tire revolution when..........BAM!!! The other car had put her car into reverse and was trying to back into the parking space directly behind me! She had swung wide and rammed into the left side of my bumper. Lucky we were only going about one mile-an-hour. No one was hurt and the policeman gave no tickets. It was just one of those backing up things.
Her bumper was crushed and my van got a new boo-boo scrape.
First thing the next morning, my phone rings and her insurance man says all three passages are claiming they were injured!!! And it's all my fault! My insurance man is, of course, denying their claim, so I hope that's the end of it.
Yes, last Monday was a Monday in true Ash's Mom style! So I dedicate this post to AM and I hope all her Mondays are brighter than my last one.
