Momma Never Told Me

 Daily Droop & Drag

Ever notice how those happy morning people are drooping by the end of the day? Yeah, honey, I'm talking about you! I know, I know, it happens to all of us.

Anyway, people who study these weird things, say we're actually taller in the morning! We carry ourselves better too; shoulders back just like our mommas told us to do.

What I'm talking about is probably most noticeable on Sunday --- beginning with jumping out of bed and dressing up to look good --- we put on a very "tall" happy face. Also, we put on all those uptight clothes with a waist, binding pantyhose and pointy shoes that pinch.  Or a suit, button-down shirt and tie around the neck!

As the day wears on, gravity makes the worse of what we got. We begin to slowly lose that upturned smile, eventually wearing a blah expression. Then later, as we relax and settle into our normal face, we shed our outerwear for more comfortable clothing to match our physique. By evening time, we're spread out on the sofa in our most forgiving sweatpants watching "Desperate Housewives" and yawning while balancing a bowl of popcorn on our tummies.

Gravity has taken it's toll on us and has won the battle! If we're blessed, we'll live to fight another day!!

 Red April

The recent rains have brought out the flame red azaleas in our yard.
This is just to show off their beauty before the freeze hits tonight!!!

 Humongous House of Color!

This is me standing in the largest greenhouse in the USA! It's the Metrolina Greenhouses and after living through the coolest, wettest spring on record, I really enjoyed seeing these amazing colors and I wanted to share beauty with everyone!!

Tables in the Room: Ships at Sea

Each huge table of the focus group had only one person sitting at it, gazing over their lunch spread before them.

Individually, we had staked out our personal territory. Maybe we wanted to be free of the large crowd we had been adrift in all morning. Maybe we just wanted space. Or maybe we wanted to enjoy our thoughts while berthed at our selected pier of peace.

I looked out at the sea of white tablecloths to see only heads bent down over them like monks at prayer. Sometimes I like to be alone too --- but these are kindred spirits --- we are here because we want to learn something new. So I picked up my lunch and moved to an occupied table and smiled a hello.

With each passing moment, people came in and soon the seats were filled with a mixture of temperaments and purposes. For whatever reason we were here together by choice and the class was about to begin.

 Childlike Joy!

Easter Sunday was a glorious celebration at our church! The music filling the sanctuary, "Hallelujah" by Beethoven, really had me swaying. I noticed a little girl of about four dancing along to the beat --- until her father put his hand on her and stopped her!

I couldn't believe it!! But I should have --- my father would have done the very same thing --- stop the fun, the enjoyment of the moment. The girl was celebrating with natural joy!

The Bible tells us to worship God LIKE a child by using all that we have --- our bodies, our voices and with our music. Let's never stop anyone from celebrating!
