Momma Never Told Me

 Surrounded by Light

The following is one of my sisters' story --- I can see the similarities to accounts of heaven from people who have had near-death experiences. It was a powerful event in her life and I remember my mother was in awe of this happening to her very young child. I had no idea my sister still dreamed about her childhood dream.

None of us knows what waits for us:

Dear Rita,

Yes, I do very vividly, even though I was about 2 years old. I remember telling Mom and an elderly neighbor about my dream. I guess I didn't know it was a dream at the time, I just knew it was true and told them what happened when I was sleeping.

I had a dream where a snake was chasing me and I was running as fast as I could trying to get away, running thru a forest into a grassy area filled with green, green grass, the bluest sky ever, flooded with sunlight. There was Jesus surrounded with light, in a white robe and Mary in a light blue robe. I knew I was safe. I ran into Jesus' outstretched arms and he told me he would always be there for me and he would protect me and always take care of me and not to be afraid. I remember his blue eyes were filled with kindness and I wasn't afraid anymore. I told Mom that Jesus was always going to take care of me (very matter of fact). I have had the dream many times since. I can shut my eyes and still see everything in detail, right down to the colors.

Anyway, That's the story and I believe...........HE is always everywhere.

Love and Hugs,

Your Sister

 Please Leave Me Alone

Just before I had to take a break from volunteering at the hospital, a regional TV celebrity came into the cafe where I was helping. Even though I recognized him immediately, I could see a sadness in his eyes, so I pretended I didn't know who he was. I took his order just like any other weary lunchtime customer who had probably spent too many hours waiting and watching over a loved one.

Some other people came into the hospital cafe and spotted this poor guy at the counter. "Aren't you........" so and so, they queried? Then some of the workers gathered around too and the talk led to the TV career of this man who recently had abruptly retired. At the time I had wondered why he stopped working without the usual fanfare of retirement. He was smiling and polite, but slow to answer questions, and kind of sedate to his "fans" surrounding him.

The next week I read that his wife of many years had died.

 Fight on the Dance Floor

An article I read recently had someone listing their favorite dance songs for each decade. Besides it being a difficult task, dance music is so subjective! Once a person passes through their "golden age of dance" that time period remains their favorite. So I haven't really danced until I couldn't dance anymore FOR YEARS..........

Here's their list with my first two additions:

1. '50's ~~~ "Great Balls of Fire" by Jerry Lee Lewis (My choice because they left off the beginning of the Rock'n'Roll era of dancing till your drop!)

2. '60's ~~~ Anything by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, or "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart (Yep, again my choices, cause they didn't even list any 1960's song!!!)

3. '70's ~~~ "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder ('ell, yes! This one they got right!!! Still makes me dance.)

4. '80's ~~~ "1999" by Prince

5. '90's ~~~ "Vogue" by Madonna

6. '00's ~~~ "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce (This is a bit premature, doncha think? We need to wait a few more years --- it's best to look back at a decade to see the power of a song.)

~~~~~Okay, Streamers, agree or disagree??? What is your choice for a song for ANY decade? ~~~ Weekend Hugs, Rita B
 Lying Behind the Smiles
Have you ever looked over those full-paged ads of real estates agents and wondered which one you'd pick to find you a new home?
Yeah, me neither --- but when confronted with all those faces the other day, I spent a few minutes looking at them really carefully.
Who was smiling? The ones, male or female, who looked like beauty queens. "Pretty me, pretty home." they imply. Who was not smiling? The men in business suits and ties. "Trust me." was their masculine message.
However, the most natural, relaxed smiles came from the average-looking, but gentle-faced, people like most of us! Friendly and open, their faces were seemingly the most comfortable to me. These are the people whom I would trust in finding me the home of my dreams. Someday.....maybe.
