Momma Never Told Me
Wednesday January 17, 2007
Sitting and waiting in my doctor's office, I read a great article on footcare --- a prime concern of mine these days.
One part of this informative article was how a new fad has sprung up from the pits of beauty hell. Women are having cosmetic surgery done on their TOES! They are having having toes shortened, lengthened, and slenderized. Some are having liposuction done on their extremely FAT toes!!!
Whoa, now, I'm the first to admit I need to lose some weight, but my chubby toes are not a big problem. My husband says my feet are the prettiest thing about me.*
Just wait till the Sisters of the Traveling Phat Pants read about these little piggies!

Sunday's sermon was about celebrating our individual gifts. My hubby leaned over to inform me that he had NO gifts. Nothing he feels he does well??! That was surprising.
We've talked and laughed about not having any skills since Sunday and when I'd think of something he could do, I'd tell him. As a traditional middle child, I'm always trying to make him feel better.
Well, the Saturday before that "sermon on gifts" my husband spent the good part of the day fixing our front door knob. Something in it had broken, but the dead bolt never lined up right anyway and it was always hard to lock. We had gotten used to pushing when we had to and pulling when we needed to to close the darn door.
After installing this new system, it still didn't work correctly, so hubby had to take it all out, go back to the store to get another door lock system, and reinstall that one. Besides not giving up, he did it without throwing the entire knobby thing across the yard! Not even once.
Now it works perfectly and the dead lock closes smoothly. See, Streamers, my honey buns does have skills!!! Perseverance is a gift. | | Posted by Rita B at 10:33 AM -

Today we are remembering Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He was one of the greatest orators in our last century! His gift of words will never be forgotten.
Making a speech in public is one of our greatest fears. I've always felt that anyone who could get up in front of others to inform, enlighten, or entertain them, would be way ahead of everybody else in the world! Mastering the fear of speaking in public creates someone with confidence, who is usually more successful in life.
I have a dream to overcome the fear and speak out! | | Posted by Rita B at 3:59 PM -

We've talked about death coming in threes and recently an article stating the Grim Reaper had taken the routine news right off the front pages with recent deaths --- the singer, the president, and the tyrant --- James Brown, Gerald Ford, and Saddam Hussein have all three gone to their great rewards.
I don't think they've all gone in the same place, do you? | | Posted by Rita B at 9:51 AM -
