Momma Never Told Me

 Tree Topper

After moving furniture around, my husband's spent most of the weekend putting our Christmas tree together. We have a huge artificial tree that's about sixteen years old. It is hard to assembled and the limbs will scratch your arms like a wildcat, but each limb has to be put in place individually. Now there are trees with the lights already attached and some trees even fold out to make a perfectly decorated tree! Because of my foot, I wasn't much help this year. It will take both of us days to decorate the tree and the rest of the house for the holidays. Needless to say, that's not my favorite part of the December festivities!

Our tree topper is a beautiful fiber-optic angel that changes colors. This year my husband photographed it with my digital camera and WOW did it turn out fantastic! Before we couldn't get a good photograph because the colors wouldn't show, but with better technology, the camera was able to capture the colors as it changed.

I prefer angels and stars --- what's on top of your tree this season, Streamers?

 Friday's Five Things on My Birthday Wish List

A very Happy Birthday wish to Bette Midler today! She's one of my favorite broads in my age group and since my birthday's coming up in a few days too, here's part of my wish list:

1. Another Christmas Movie --- Any will do, old or new. I love "A Christmas Story" because it's closest to my time period ( it's earlier), but my dad was just about as wacky!

2. Another Book --- Thirteen Moons by Charles Frazier. I adore his first book, Cold Mountain, and I liked the movie version of it, although none can compare to the movies in our heads while reading a good book!

3. More Art Supplies --- So what if I didn't get that state art grant? I'm still going to paint my series of large paintings, visualizing emotions!

4. Another Leather Jacket --- I never lost enough to fit "the girls" back into that old black leather jacket (see past post), so a new roomier one is needed before the cold wind blows!

5. World Peace --- Hey, a girl can dream, right?

 Spellbound

Yesterday, I went to see 50 paintings by Claude Monet.  They were all fantastic!  They sparkled with light, contrast, and color.  It was an amazing exhibit.  If you ever get an opportunity to visit a museum and see some great art --- do it!

"No one can count himself an artist unless he can carry a picture in his head before he paints it."

 The Other Woman

It's a sad day to find out my husband has found another woman after almost 41 years of marriage. And to make things worse, her name is Dot! The same name as my evil step-mother from hell.  But, that's another story.

He says she's more exciting and more unpredictable than I. He loves her terminally cute perkiness. Apparently, Dot's got a great sense of humor and isn't afraid to use it to deal with whatever life throws her way. She's even good at juggling! Dot has a style all her own and wears clothes that stand out in a crowd! Oh, how I wish I had her lack of fear in using color. She is a trend setter! We are opposites since I've never been a flamboyant dresser or the life of the party.

My husband has always said that his second wife would be tons of fun. I caught them after a lunch rendezvous and they looked sooooo happy! How can I fight that twinkle in her eye and that smile on her face, Streamers?

 Asses in the Marketplace

~~~~~ Black Friday always seems like such a bad day to me, because the after-Thanksgiving sales bring out the worst in people. For days after, we see the film of how badly some people behaved. At the crack of dawn, they run over each other just to save a few dollars! Don't even mention the man shot while waiting in line for the latest game! Some are only buying things, not for personal use, but so there'll be a shortage and then they can sell them on the internet for a huge profit. So what if the little kiddies don't get the most popular item of the season??? I find it so distressing --- maybe because it shows how quickly civilization can unravel --- or how it brings out the worst in so-called "normal" people.
~~~~~ While thumbing through a catalog, I came across an afghan with the character "Kramer" on it --- you know the one played by Michael Richards on Seinfeld. Who on earth would want to wrap themselves up in that? I'm not buying his explanations at all! He has to be that hostile, acid-spewing person underneath his comedy routine. That was some of the most sickening stuff I've ever heard and I'm not believing his "possession" theory --- you know, he opened his mouth and out came this filth --- oh, lordy, he says, where did that bad word come from? Go away, Mr. Richards!

~~~~~ Okay, so O.J. Simpson's book was canceled. But why was there going to be a tell-all "how I did it" book in the marketplace in time for Christmas gift-giving? He admits writing it only for the money. The people to blame are the publishers who came up with the idea and sold it to O.J. This has brought back the terrible pain of the tragedy to the family of his ex-wife, the family of the waiter, and O.J.'s and Nichole's children. Reliving that nightmare and the aftermath could never be worth the money.
Besides, we recently heard an inside rumor recently from a reliable source that says O.J. is not guilty. What the real shocker is --- that I've never heard this story before --- how could it be that well-hidden? Surely, the tabloids thought up this scenario? No, it leaked from a friend who lives close to a retired detective who worked on that case. The detective says that O.J. is bi-sexual and his homosexual lover killed Nichole because he was jealous and Ron Goldman was just there at the wrong time. Supposedly, O.J. hurried off to protect the mother of his children, but was too late. The killer has since vanished. The talk is that O.J. had the killer murdered shortly after the trial. True or false? Why would O.J. be afraid of being discovered as a bi-sexual?
There will always be more questions than answers about this night of murder. I'm glad the book is no longer available to buy, although I've heard that a few of the books were being sold on the internet.  Greed always seems to flourishes.
