Momma Never Told Me

 You Can!

"Do all the good you can,

By all the means you can,

In all the ways you can,

At all the times you can,

To all the people you can,

As long as ever you can."

Friday's Five Things I've Never Eaten on Thanksgiving

1. Tofurky ~~~ A gray mass of soybean tofu molded into a turkey shape.

2. Turducken ~~~ A chicken stuffed into a duck stuffed into a turkey and cooked all together.  This one I would probably eat!

3. Haggis ~~~ A Scottish dish made of unmentionable sheep or calf parts stuffed back into the animal's stomach and boiled.

4. Blood Pudding ~~~ Also known as black sausage, it's made of unusable pork parts and seasoned with the pig's blood.

5. Anything on the Fear Factor menu ~~~ No hissing cockroaches, insect larvae, sea slugs or anything like that! Also, nothing the B.A.B.E.S. (Bay Area Bug Eating Society) considers tasty!  Unless it was a freakin' accident.

I hope everyone had a marvelous Thanksgiving filled with good food and usable leftovers! ~~~ Hugs, Rita

 Visions from the Renaissance Festival

Last Saturday we enjoyed a visit to the Renaissance Festival!

One of the funny things to do is watch the bawdy shows available at every turn at the festival --- the Tortuga Twins is a favorite.

With audience participation they do a naughty version of Robin Hood!

You never know what will turn up while shopping at the different booths.

All the kiddies want to ride the elephant --- including me!

Or another ride on the a butterfly?

Tripp walks the rope and stops for a rest.

We all loved the belly dancers doing the Skirt Dance.

Besides belly dance, they collect money from the crowds.

A knight gleams in the bright sunlight.

The roaming street performers enjoyed their work.

Alison hooks up with Captain John Sparrow, Jack's older brother!

A giant turkey leg quiets my tummy while I watch the crowds --- many come dressed for the festival.

This beautiful rocking horse, always full of children, stayed in motion.

The Ded Bob show was one of the most ribald I've heard in a long time! Some families walked out, dragging their children behind them, after Ded Bob told the children they were all accidents.

More sparkling do-dads begging for our money!

Since the best man wins, our french man on the right, loses in the bloody sword fight.

This Ent, a walking tree, seemed to enjoy scaring little people.

In addition to street dancers and performers, many musicians entertained visitors in the festival village.

After a great day, we had a gorgeous sunset that kept changing and turning more red with each passing second!

Friday's Five Reasons to Vote for Me!

I'm throwing myself into the Blogstream for the office of Designated Driver of the Stream! After voting last week and with the holidays just around the corner, I've decided it was time to fulfill my destiny as servant to the partying Streamers.

Here are five reasons I want to be the DDS:

1. To avoid those nasty "mornings after." Let's face it, drinking may feel good for a while, but the next day is a killer! Each year I drink less and less and I don't miss that headachy feeling. I'm your safe sober servant!

2. To pick up blog gossip. While everyone else is drunk and babbling to anyone who will listen, I'm picking up great ideas for blogging! Loose lips, gossips. Secrets and confessions are the things of good stories for the Streamers!

3. To take compromising photographs. With my handy camera, I can catch all those humorous photos to embarrass friends and family later by posting them on the Stream. You won't regret voting for me. It will be so incredibly funny!

4. To maintain my job as reliable blogger. Everyone else has to live down their drunken antics, but not me --- I'm alert and focused while partying in the Stream. No embarrassing or forgotten moments for me! (Unless, old age kicks in.)

5. To be able to remember things. Since remembering what has happened at a party is a wonderful thing, I will be able to recall the laughs and the good times. I will remember it all for you, Streamers. No blurs or lost hours for me!

So Vote for me, Streamers! Your Designated Driver of the Stream.

My number one safety tip of the day: If you find you've had too much to drink while blogging, turn off your computer, put your head down on the keyboard and sleep it off till morning. Under no circumstances should a Streamer try to find their bed while under the influence! ~~~

Hugs for your Votes,

Rita B, the Q of F.A. and (Hopefully) D.D. of the S.
