 "I Wannas" Friday Fun Facts

Here they are Streamers --- a day late and a billion dollars short!

Early in our marriage we played penny poker every Friday night. Oh it was so much fun! Often I would come home with an empty jar --- losing large amounts of small change. I wish we had kept the game up, but after moving a few times, it's one of those things that fell by the wayside. Nobody plays it where we live now. Some people play Bunko. I've thought about trying to find a group interested in playing and someday I will. I wanna play penny poker again!

After studying art for years, Italy is the place to see so many great masterpieces. Now I can't drink the vino, but there's so much more to delight in and enjoy. It is one of my goals: I wanna go to Italy and roam the scenic countryside.

I've always thought I would live at the beach. After growing up on the coast, that is one of my early loves. Jobs and family have kept me far away from that goal, but it is still one of my dreams. Whenever I get to the beach now, I enjoy every moment. I still wanna live on the ocean. Hurricanes be damned!

My marriage has survived in spite of me not getting a gazebo for the yard. Every place we move to, I scout out the perfect spot for a gazebo, only to find out it ain't gonna happen! My husband finds humor in pointing out all the reasons NOT to have one --- I laugh, thinking surely he's joking --- but that shady resting place under the trees has never appeared. So I've selected for my tombstone: I'd rather have a gazebo.

Before I developed so many allergies and when our daughters were young, we had cats and dogs. We love cats, but I have a sister more allergic than I am and I know she wouldn't visit if we had one. After we get tired of traveling, we've talked about getting a small dog again. A whiny yapper, maybe. So when I finally slow down I wanna get a hairless doggie to house train.

Hope everyone's having a fun weekend! ~~~ Cyberhugs, Rita B

The One & Only Joe Cocker

A big Happy Birthday to Joe Cocker today! He's an acquired taste, Streamers. I owe it to a dear friend for making me see the talent of singing Joe. (Thank you, Gary!) Jim Belushi's version of Cocker on SNL almost ruined the singer for me! It's taken me years to appreciate his genuine style. But I sure do now.

So stand up and give a cheer for Joe --- oh, and you can leave your hat on.

 Available Again

Paul McCartney, the cute Beatle, is available again! Here I've been hanging around waiting for him all my life, almost gave up, and now he's going to be single once again. He needs a woman closer to his own age --- at least in the same decade! He probably got tired of explaining things to a wife half his age. Before I got married, I told my future husband upfront that if Paul ever came for me, I was outta here. It's hard to forget one's first love! Some things should be revealed when one is taking an important step like marriage.

Paul, honey, I'm waiting by the phone. Let it ring at least ten times to give me enough time to answer it. Forty years of waiting has slowed me down a bit, sweetie!
